Modern Warfare 2 Review: HOORAH

Ok, I've mentioned this game at least 3 times already (including my previous post), it's time to tell why Modern Warfare 2 needs to be one of your must have games this year.

Pros:

OH $#!T!: I will guarantee you right now, at LEAST twice in the campaign alone this game WILL make you go "OH SHIT!!" Infinity Ward not only knows how to tell a story, they know how to paint settings to make you really realize that what you're doing is something epic. From icy mountain tops to dark ocean depths, every single level of this campaign was a blast to play.

Polished like no other: This games graphics are simply gorgeous. I personally got the Prestige edition which came with the art book, and the truth is when I opened it for the first time I thought I was looking at models wearing game uniforms when I realized they were actual in game models. The settings for every mission are also extremely well done and polished, enough to bring life to every level, even in the middle of a frozen wasteland or an oil rig in the middle of the ocean.

Addictive: I personally need to have a solid campaign experience, but this game delivers on both the solo and multiplayer experience in such a strong, commanding way that you don't feel disappointed if you were to play the game for only one of these gametypes and not the other. The fact that Infinity Ward has made sure to perfect the science of both aspects of the game really is a testament to their fan dedication. In all honesty, there's no excuse not to like and want this game.

Perks are rewarding: At first glance when you hear about perks you might feel annoyed at the fact you have to level up to get access to more custom options, but the perk system feels incredibly rewarding in this game. What's great is that the leveling system really gives you time to experiment with perks as you get them, so you don't just get 20 at once and totally never use some, you get a real chance to mix and match until you find the right balance.

Cons:

Lag issues (for now): One thing I been noticing on multiplayer games is that there have been lag issues that can be annoying, but to be totally honest I feel very confident that Infinity Ward will release patches relatively soon to correct these problems so that they'll be distant memories.

Controversy issues: By now you may have heard about controversial moments in the game (i.e., the airport terrorism level). I only put it here in the cons section because this is a moral debate gamers are having. While it's understandable, I would like to point out that Infinity Ward has made it a point to allow gamers to be able to skip this level completely and not penalize gamers who choose to do so what so ever (meaning you'll still be able to get all perks and achievements).

In short, it's hard to find something not to like about Modern Warfare 2. Between its extremely satisfying story and multiplayer experience, I would find it very difficult for any FPS gamer not to like this game. Worth every cent.

Recommended buy price: $60
