Fallout 3 GOTY Review: Why you SHOULD buy this

A day or two ago, I posted amazon's current deal on the GOTY edition of Fallout 3 and stated it's one of the best video game values PERIOD. Today, I'm going to try and explain why in a little more detail, without trying to bore you to death.

Pros:
So much to do, so much time to do it:
Fallout 3's main campaign can easily take you 40 hours to complete, but each of the 5 DLC included can easily take anywhere from 3-5 hours to complete on top of that. This isn't counting the idea that The Pitt and Point Lookout both give you open areas you can explore over and over, adding even more hours to your gametime.

Haven't gotten this kind of deal since the Orange Box:
When each DLC came out, they were originally $10 each. Considering the game came out for $60, this costed the average gamer who owned this from the beginning a total of $110. And yet, the quality and detail put into the story, graphics, and gameplay still made this worth it. Considering you can get that for almost half of what gamers did a year ago, you can't really deny the value's in the package.

The world's alive:
One of the best things about Fallout 3 is that if you don't want to stick to the story or want to take a break, you can at anytime because Bethesda made the gameworld extremely rich and explore friendly. At anytime, you can be attacked by random bandits or bounty hunters, or accidently hit a radscoripion nest, or stumble upon a slave camp. The world really has something for almost anytype of FPS or RPG gamer that you'll rarely be bored.

Cons:
But I dont WANT to change discs!
It's hard for me to find something to complain about, but if I had to pick one thing it would be the idea that the DLC is held in a seperate disc. Granted, I know that there's already a lot of space used on the original game disc, but we're not back in PS1 days where we need 4 discs to tell an epic tale. Then again, I only played the 360 version. I don't know if the PS3 version has this issue considering it uses blu-ray, which if it doesn't it makes this issue a moot point.

Fallout 3 is a like your favorite ice cream only made better by the whipped creme, chocolate and caramel toppings the dlc makes it. It shouldn't even be a question you shouldn't look at the original version anymore unless you dont want all DLC and want to pick and choose instead. With Amazon's already discounted price at $56.99, this is already a must have. You can wait till Black Friday to see if you can get a better price on this if you want as anything's possible, but either way, dont go into next year without buying this masterpiece.

Recommended buy price: $60
